Kuala Lumpur - May, 10th, 2010. The Career Expo 2010, which ended its three day event on Sunday, managed to receive around 65,000 applications for about 2000 job postings at the show site.

Organised by JobDB Malaysia, the expo, with the theme “Better Location, Better Technology, Better Candidate”, was participated by over 100 multinational and private companies offering jobs for fresh graduates, young professionals up to senior positions including management levels.

“The show is a big success, not only because we got 65,000 applications for the 2,000 job posting, but more than 70% of the employers participating were happy that they found their potential candidates,” said JobDB’s general manager, Timothy Hor.

Hor also noted that through the on-site survey, more than 80% of the exhibitors have expressed their intent on participating in the event again next year.

“They are extremely pleased with our service level, and the ease our Dimension system allowed the uploading of job seekers resume into their servers,” said Hor.

Hor said the employers get pre-loaded resumes in JobsDB’s portal from the interested candidates through the bar coded registration card, making it seamless and paperless, thus a “Green” job fair.

“Though the fair is officially over physically, the Career Expo 2010 will go on for a month, with all those job postings available and possibly additional ones posted during that period,” said Hor.

The exhibitors for the event includes financial institutions such as Maybank Bhd, HSBC, RHB, ecmLibra, Allianz Malaysia Bhd and OSK Investment Bank among others.  Exhibitors from the technology driven industry include Telekom Malaysia Bhd, Maxis Communications Bhd, DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd, HeiTech Padu Bhd, Silverlake Axis Sdn Bhd, Mimos Bhd and Scicom (MSC) Bhd.

“The environment was conducive and comfortable for both job seekers and us and made the interaction more meaningful,” commented one of the main sponsor from the banking industry. “Jobs DB has delivered its promise on Better Location, making it The Better Job Fair.”

Similar sentiments were echoed by one of the sponsors from the R&D segment, especially on the technological aspect. “We were very impressed with the technology deployed,” the spokesperson noted. “From seamless process of uploading paperless resume into the database, to management of the resumes, JobsDB’s Dimension has made the process time saving, efficient and precise,”

"Mazda is certainly happy with the crowd attendance and responses received during the three days of the career fair,” said Bermaz Motor Sdn Bhd’s  Asistant General Maanger for Human Resources and Administration, Zulkifli Dzin. Bermaz represents Mazda in Malaysia.

“Generally the number of candidates deposited their resume to our company were exceeded our expectation. It shows that job seekers and fresh graduates have high confidence on Mazda as the household brand. The paperless system is marvelous.”

The event also saw participation by both job seekers and exhibitors alike in seminars and workshops held in partnership with by FranklinCovey Co (represented locally by Leadership Resources (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd) a leadership development and consultation company, and  Billy Kueek International (BKI), a personal  and organizational development specialist.

“On second day, we had a human resource roundtable session entitled, ‘Knowledge workers do not need job descriptions’ with panellists from FranklinCovey, BKI, Maybank, DiGi and MIMOS, which received a very enthusiastic response,” said Hor.

“At the end of the day, the event is helping job seekers to find the career of their choice and having exhibitors to get their potential candidates through face to face meet, and seamless process of uploading resume and we are happy that it went smoothly,” said Hor.
