Creating a Work Environment that Attracts and Keeps Your Workforce

In many industries today, a lot of jobs are going unfilled. In should go without saying if you cannot attract and keep your workforce then you must change what you are doing or face the consequences.

Which kind of environment you want to work at?

  1. One that is cold and gives you a sense no one cares?
  2. One that makes you feel good and appreciated?

Definitely, 99% of employees prefer friendly working environment as they spend eight hours or more in the office. It would be important that the workplace is fun and enjoyable where they feel comfortable and warm. If not, a job will become a drag to you.

How can you make the workplace fun to work? In another word, are there ways to make the job lovable?

Positive and appreciative attitude

It can help creating an environment that boosts spirits and encourages fun. Try to appreciate sincerely the effort of co-workers no matter it is a great achievement or a small act of assistance. Positive atmosphere is contagious, and you can inspire others to find fun in their job.

Make it humour (humorous)

Be relaxing in the job even if facing a tricky situation or difficult task. Remember that there is always the other side of the coin. Mere complaining would do no good. Instead, laugh it off and deal with it.

Communication

Start with those who work close with you, and understand them. Build trust and share with them your objectives of having fun at work. You may find that someone who looks unfriendly may indeed be easy to get along with. Poor communication would hinder the building up of relationship.

"Fun" space

It is possible to create a "real" environment that encourages fun. You may set a place or a room for fun so that staff can relieve stress. Staff can sit there and have a drink or they can play with stress-relieving toys. Allow staff to get away from difficult tasks for a few minutes, and they may come back later with more creative ideas to tackle the problems.

Fun injection

Inject a little bit of fun into the work can make the workplace more cheerful. For example, you can award team members a small gift after all of you have cooperated to finish a project. It can be just an ice cream or a big lunch. No matter what it is, colleagues would be happy.

Laugh out loud

Remember to smile and laugh often. Laugh loudly is a best way to release stress as well.

Conclusion

People like a friendly place to work. The friendly-factor does not require a large investment and expense, but it does require time and thoughtful consideration.
